Paris Johnson Jr. Will Play OT At OSU
Posted by: Steve - 07-19-2018, 02:01 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

At the end of June, Paris Johnson Jr. announced his pledge to join the OSU football team when he graduates in a couple years. Building on the news of Lejond Cavazos' commitment, Johnson Jr. is the second major Class of 2020 recruit that OSU has entered negotiations with so far.

Highly Sought After

The 6-foot-7 285-pound OT from St. Xavier is a Cincinnati native, and he's listed as the second overall prospect at the offensive position in his class. In spite of the fact that he's only played in parts of two high school seasons, Johnson Jr. received scholarship offers from over 40 different colleges.

Paris Johnson Jr. says this is a major opportunity for him since it gives him the chance to represent his home state. In agreeing to play for OSU, he's elected to pass up a chance with the Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers. It doesn't seem like he minds at all, though.

  D.J. Carton Joins The Buckeyes
Posted by: Steve - 07-19-2018, 02:01 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Ohio State acquires D.J. Carton for 2019. On Saturday, Ohio State obtained a big commitment by persuading D.J. Carton, the five-star point guard from the Class of 2019, to join their ranks.

Emerged from Obscurity

Carlton, who stands at five foot eleven inches, made a splash on the national recruitment arena this spring, when he emerged from obscurity to be a top prospect. While Carton does not play on any big shoe company circuits, he impressed college coaches and national scouts with his abilities over the April live assessment with Quad Elite Cities --- the same group that produced top players such as Montana State's Tyler Hall and Wisconsin's Ethan Happ.

A dynamic player who can function over the rim, Carton displayed many attributes during the American Basketball Under Eighteen trials in June, while competing against lots of the leading athletes in his group.

How Jack Miller III Emerges As The 2020 Ohio Recruiting Class Secret Weapon
Posted by: Steve - 07-11-2018, 03:12 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

In Jack Miller III, Ohio State has finally found a man it can depend on both the field and out. And that spells trouble for anyone who isn't a Buckeye. Jack Miller III gave his pledge after a Friday night recruitment spree.

Jack Miller III is a four-star quarterback who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. With him on board, there's nothing stopping the Buckeyes now from achieving their objectives. And that's why everyone in the team has been seen jumping for joy lately. The team is confident that it has everything it needs to put the pressure on.

National Perception

No. 47, as everyone knows is a young but very driven man. At 6' 4" and 210 pounds, Jack Miller III is definitely a lean and mean fighting machine. But you really have to watch his commando-like demeanor to believe, although his play stats say it all.

Let's hear it from Tim Kohner who had the privilege of coaching Jack Miller III for years at school. Kohner's take on the man sounds like he's describing the abilities of the Bionic Man. And who can blame him?

Ohio State Forward Keita Bates-Diop NBA Draft
Posted by: Steve - 06-30-2018, 06:36 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Second Round to the Minnesota Timberwolves

Keita Bates-Diop was pick number forty eight for the Minnesota Timber Wolves in the recent 2018 NBA Draft, his name many are already familiar. Bates- Diop's place on the board into the second round of picks was unexpected because he has already demonstrated his skills as part of the Big Ten. With the experience that he has in college, he is expected to be a strong asset to the team.

Tom Thibodeau, Minnesota head coach, expressed surprise at him remaining after the first round of picks in the Draft. He attributes his late selection to the high number of skilled players from which to choose. Thibodeau stated they picked him due to his performance during a workout and his past year at Ohio State.

Offensive Lineman Harry Miller Announces His Intentions
Posted by: Steve - 06-15-2018, 03:58 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

We just found out this week about Harry Miller’s Ohio State Signing, what does it mean for the Buckeyes?

Four star Offensive Lineman Harry Miller made his Ohio State commitment creating new excitement for the OSU 2019 class. With the addition of Miller, Ohio State has added some solid depth to their squad for the class of 2019.

Class of 2019 in April

Following a successful month in April, where the Buckeyes landed commitments from Noah Potter, Ronnie Hickman, Steele Chambers, Garrett Wilson, Bryson Shaw and Cade Stover, the team cooled off a little in May. They did not add any commitments, while they reevaluated their options and requirements. It seems like they are ready to act once more however, because recently the team announced another commitment - with Harry Miller from Buford, Georgia making his pledge.

Earle Bruce As Remembered By Urban Meyer
Posted by: Steve - 05-04-2018, 11:17 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

"Wisdom acquired from the university of life": Urban Meyer recalls Earle Bruce

Urban Meyer, the Buckeyes coach who studied under and idolized coach Earl Bruce, offered touching comments during Wednesday's Life Celebration at Saint John's Arena. His speech was warmly received by the audience.

Meyer began his career as a coach at the Buckeyes under Bruce, then went with him to the University of Colorado, prior to going back to the Buckeyes to manage the program. He is probably the best qualified person to offer such a tribute.

Four-Star Athlete Steele Chambers Joins The Ohio State!
Posted by: Steve - 04-26-2018, 03:04 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Ohio State got a surprise when Steele Chambers committed to the Buckeyes last Wednesday evening. He comes in with a distinction of being a four-star player from Trinity Catholic, Georgia.

Illustrious as a leading athlete, Chambers is 6-foot-2, 215 pounds of athleticism. Considered in the top 30 athletes and ranked 340 overall in 2019, Chambers decided to play with Ohio State. His selection for Ohio was firm as he had many other options on the desk such as offers from Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and Stanford.

Chambers was offered by the Buckeyes last October. He was quick to visit and made his first trip only weeks later, highlighted by the one point win over a fierce opponents, Penn State.

During the weekend, Chambers had the opportunity to have some sessions with defensive coaches Kerry Coombs and Greg Schiano, who held the post of assistant coordinator as well. The sessions were not focused on sports rather they had more to do with looking at life beyond sports and campuses.

Chambers came back to the campus late March to watch a session of spring camp. His family accompanied him and they went on to tour the campus, had a discussion with the head of the business school and also had a Friday meal with Urban Meyer, DC Schiano, Tony Alford and Bill Davis.

Ohio State Spring Game 2018 Starting at 11:45
Posted by: Steve - 04-14-2018, 05:06 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Ohio State has rescheduled their annual Scarlet and Gray game due to inclement weather coming to Columbus around 11am on Saturday. The new start time of the team scrimmage is 11:45am. This is 2 hours earlier than previously schedule. Buckeye fans that are watching from home can get the Spring Game on the Big Ten Network or listen on 97.1FM.

Ohio State v Michigan Lacrosse

Fans that got to the stadium early were going to be able to watch the Ohio State vs. Michigan lacrosse game. But now that game has been moved to Friday night. Spring Game tickets can used Friday night and then re-used for the football game on Saturday.

The Scarlet and Gray game is sold out at 79,000 tickets. This is 18,000 less tickets than previous years due to construction within the stadium. Other Big Ten teams have cancelled their scrimmage for this weekend including the team up north. A lot of recruiting happening this weekend for the Buckeye staff, so it’s no time to take off.

Guard CJ Walker Visits The Buckeyes
Posted by: Steve - 04-05-2018, 10:24 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

CJ Walker, who is a transfer from Florida State, will go to Ohio State at the weekend, according to reports.

The crew headed by Chris Holtmann will welcome the Seminole former guard.

Now that their initial season as Buckeyes leaders is out of the way, Holtmann - along with the coaching team at Ohio State - has been working hard to contact several transfer prospects who are available.

Jon Rothstein, from CBS Sports, reports that Holtmann and Co will soon get the opportunity to show college basketball's top guard transfer what he could expect if he became a student/athlete for the Buckeyes.

New Role Of Coach Greg Schiano
Posted by: Steve - 03-31-2018, 01:29 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

A new role is allowing Greg Schiano to expand his working from Ohio Defensive Coordinator to spend time with all other positions on that side of the ball.

Greg Schiano performed the duties of Bukeye's safeties instructor in the first two seasons as defensive coordinator for OSU. From there on Schiano got the opening to spend time with all major defensive positions.

The Football Subdivision recently grew from a team of nine assistants to ten, which brought in safeties coach Alex Grinch, which eventually led Schiano to look after the defense as the head coach.

This could very well be a game changer for Schiano & the Buckeye’s defense as they will have Schiano concentrating on the whole defensive team while having a complete understanding of the entire defensive.
