Damon Arnette Picked As Starting Nickel Back For OSU
Posted by: Steve - 09-11-2016, 11:57 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Damon Arnette

Ohio State chose Malik Hooker and Damon Webb to be their starting safeties' this season. Gareon Conley, Denzel Ward, and Marshon Lattimore will be the starting cornerbacks for the team.

They did not choose a player to fill the nickel back position right away. Prolonging the decision allowed them to choose a player who could defend the pass consistently. They needed a true performer who could give them the advantage throughout the season, and especially when they face Bowling Green's quick-striking defense this coming week.

Urban Meyer, the OSU head coach, announced his decision today. He picked freshman Damon Arnette as the starting nickel back in the first week. This announcement came by way of his weekly call-in show.

Tyjon Lindsey And Trevon Grimes Commit to Ohio State
Posted by: Steve - 08-26-2016, 04:03 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Trevon Grimes

Tyjon Lindsey

Tyjon Lindsey and Trevon Grimes are two wide receivers who have recently signed on with the Ohio State Buckeyes. These are two of 18 new commitments to the recruiting class of 2017. These two blue chip players are two new promising additions. They were signed to the OSU team after they sent in a video of them playing dodge ball, knocking out other players who were wearing T-shirts from other schools. After Lindsey and Grimes knocked out each of the other players, they put on hats from OSU, showing the choice of school they'd made.

Lindsey is from Las Vegas, and he is scheduled to announce his plans to play for Ohio State on Monday. Grimes is from Fort Lauderdale, and was scheduled announce his decision on Wednesday. Right before his video announcement, he said on Twitter that his previous plans had changed.

Browns' Pryor Earning Rave Reviews At Wide Receiver
Posted by: Steve - 08-14-2016, 03:00 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Terrelle_Pryor_2015

Terrelle Pryor ended up having the time of his life at the annual scrimmage at Ohio stadium. Saturday's event ended up being a happy homecoming for Ohio State's former quarterback.

Pryor exhibited some superior athletic abilities when he returned to the stadium where he ruled in his college years from 2008-2010. Pryor impressively caught six passes, two of which were touchdown passes from Josh McCown and Robert Griffin III.

The fans certainly thought Pryor's game play was great. At one point, he led the audience in a robust O-H-I-O cheer after he completed a magnificent 75-yard streak of touchdowns.

The game play that he exhibited during this scrimmage reminded everyone of how he used to play before the five-year ban from campus.

Pryor commented on his experience after the game by stating that it was "electric."

Quarterback Emory Jones Stays Committed to Ohio State for 2018
Posted by: Steve - 08-10-2016, 11:40 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

EmoryJones

Emory Jones, an junior committed to Ohio State originally from Georgia, is having a great year at Heard County. Currently, this quarterback has led his team to the number one spot in the 2016 rankings. He is the number two signal-caller dual-threat in the upcoming junior 2018 class. This ranking attracted many colleges trying to pluck him from Ohio at their camp. Tennessee, Knoxville, and Clemson wanted his talent in addition to the Buckeyes. Georgia wanted to attract him back to the Peach State. Luckily, he is staying put for 2018. He made this decision recently.

Visiting these colleges in person helped him decide. Rumors state Ohio State was the odds-on favorite; the other colleges' job was to convince him their college was better than OSU. One became a threat after previous quarterbacks left their college for professional ball. Today's decision proved the colleges failed, and coach Urban Meyer couldn't be prouder. Jones is the second person to choose Ohio State for 2018; Brian Snead was the first. This gives Ohio State momentum into the New Year.

Chase Young Makes The Call at Friday Night Lights
Posted by: Steve - 07-28-2016, 06:37 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

ChaseYoung

Chase Young, the defensive end, committed during Friday Night Lights at the Ohio State University this past weekend.

The Buckeye coaching staff was so excited about Young's decision that they had an all-out celebration with the 225-pound, 6-foot-5 player right on the 50-yard line according to reports.

Young's father, Greg Young, did not think that he was going to make a decision for quite some time on the college to attend after high school. In fact, he told the news just that, an hour before Young made his decision. Young quickly announced that he was a Buckeye to all his beloved friends.

Greg gave a proud thumbs-up response during the celebration when some people asked if his son had made that commitment.

PatElflein

Buckeyes center Pat Elflein picked for the Rimington Award watch list this preseason

The year five senior is scheduled to make his debut at center against Bowling Green, on September 3.

Following the recent enrolment of Tyquan Lewis, Raekwon McMillan and JT Barrett to award watch lists this preseason, Pat Elflein was entered the watch list for the Rimington Trophy this week. Named after Dave Rimington, the former Nebraska center, the Rimington Award is given each year to the top college football center. Since its' introduction in 2000, LeCharles Bentley is the only Ohio State player to receive the Rimington Award. On December 5, the award finalists will be named, and the winner will be decided by the Sporting News magazine, the Football Writers Association of America and the Walter Camp Foundation.

  Andre Wesson Becomes A Buckeye
Posted by: Steve - 07-03-2016, 03:09 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

WessonAndWesson

Ohio State signs Andre Wesson; Andre Wesson has officially signed his letter-of-intent to become an Ohio State Buckeye, choosing them over Richmond and Butler.

Talent runs in the family of the 6-7 Wesson with his brother being the 6-10, 290 lbs., Kaleb Wesson. In fact the brothers' father is Keith Wesson - a former Buckeye himself in the mid-1980s.

Andre's prospects were boosted by a stellar senior year as part of the Westerville South team that won the Division 1 State championship with a 26-4 season. He was honored with being voted player of the year in the Ohio Capital Conference after a game average of 17.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists.

Ohio State Buckeyes Land Offensive Lineman Wyatt Davis
Posted by: Steve - 07-03-2016, 03:09 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

WyattDavis

Many recruiting followers were surprised when Ohio State stopped their efforts for the in-state recruit, Joel Honigford, who currently held 29 offers from various other schools.

It became clear this week, however, when the Buckeyes announced that they had received a commitment from OL Wyatt Davis from St. Bosco High in Bellflower, Ca. This commitment surprised many who had not anticipated this news.

Davis, who is a 5-star recruiting prospect, listed his top recruiting school considerations 2 months ago and Ohio State was not included or mentioned by him as a school he was considering.

Last weekend, however, the situation changed quickly after Davis took a visit to Ohio State and the Buckeyes were suddenly included in his new Top-8 list.

  Ohio State Basketball Scoop

OhioStateBasketball

Non-conference Schedule

The 2016-17 non-conference schedule for Ohio State Basketball was released on Tuesday.

The Ohio State Basketball squad has the entire starting lineup returning from the 2015-16 season. Last year's disappointing performance culminated in an NIT invite. This year's team will have the opportunity to avenge 2 of their losses in non-conference suffered last season.

Ohio State's non-conference schedule has some of the same teams from last year. For the second year in a row, the Bucks face Virginia from the Big Ten/ACC challenge. They travel to play the Cavaliers on the 30Th of November. Additionally, they host Connecticut on Dec. 10Th, which is the second game of a home-and-home contest against the UConn Huskies.

Evan Turner's Jersey Hung At The Jerome Schottenstein Center
Posted by: Steve - 05-22-2016, 12:33 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

EvanTurner

History was made on Tuesday night as Evan Turner became the fifth ex-Buckeye to have his jersey hoisted into the rafters at the Jerome Schottenstein Center. It joins John Havlicek's, John Lucas's, Gary Bradds's, and Jim Jackson's in receiving this honor. The ceremony took place as the Buckeyes played (and beat) the Michigan Wolverines, a very fitting opponent to celebrate Turner's college career. Indeed, his dramatic buzzer-beating three-pointer in the quarterfinals of the 2010 Big Ten Tournament is perhaps the defining moment of the 2010 National Player of the Year's Buckeyes career.

You might think that the ideal opponent was planned, but it was not. Turner currently plays for the NBA's Boston Celtics, meaning that he could only personally attend the ceremony during the NBA All-Star Break. The Buckeyes only had one home game during the NBA break, and it was the luck of the draw that it happened to be against Michigan.
