  Big Ten Bowl Games 2015
Posted by: Steve - 12-13-2015, 12:25 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Big Ten Bowl Games

The Big Ten got 10 teams into bowl games this season and have three top 10 ranked squads. This will be a very exciting bowl season for all fans in Big 10 country.

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic (College Football Playoff Semifinal); 8 p.m. Dec. 31

No. 3 Michigan State (12-1) vs. No. 2 Alabama (12-1)

This is the best game Michigan State has gotten in years and although they are beat up a little, are hoping to take the next step to the title match.

BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl; 1 p.m., Jan. 1

No. 7 Ohio State (11-1) vs. No. 8 Notre Dame (10-2)

A great match-up for both teams with a lot of NFL talent on both sides. Too bad Notre Dame is going to lose.

Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual; 5 p.m., Jan. 1

No. 5 Iowa (12-1) vs. No. 6 Stanford (11-2)

Iowa hopes to finish off a great season with one more win. Both these teams were looking at the playoff until they lost at the end of the year.

Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl; 1 p.m., Jan. 1

No. 14 Michigan (9-3) vs. No. 19 Florida (10-3)

Two great defenses go up against each other. Can’t imagine Michigan getting beat again after Ohio State made them look silly.

Outback Bowl; 12:00 p.m., Jan. 1

No. 13 Northwestern (10-2) vs. No. 23 Tennessee (8-4)

A great season by Northwestern which would love to finish strong in this uneven match-up.

Holiday Bowl; 10:30 p.m., Dec. 30
Wisconsin (9-3) vs. No. 25 USC (8-5)

Wisconsin’s strong defense against USC’s weak offense and visa versa in this battle. Why is USC ranked and not Wisconsin?

TaxSlayer Bowl; 12:00 p.m., Jan. 2
Penn State (7-5) vs. Georgia (9-3)

This could be a really bad game with a Penn State team that is fading and a Georgia team without a coach.

New Era Pinstripe Bowl; 3:30 p.m., Dec. 26
Indiana (6-6) vs. Duke (7-5)

Indiana is hoping to get a bowl win before they lose quarterback Nate Sudfeld to graduation and running back Jordan Howard to the NFL.

Foster Farms Bowl; 9:15 p.m., Dec. 26
Nebraska (5-7) vs. UCLA (8-4)

Nebraska had a losing season but the NCAA money hogs want more games so here we go.

Quick Lane Bowl; 5 p.m., Dec. 28
Minnesota (5-7) vs. Central Michigan (7-5)

Minnesota also had a losing season which makes this game stink out loud, at least it’s a MAC team so it might be competitive for a while.

Iowa Michigan State Big Ten Championship Game 2015
Posted by: Steve - 12-03-2015, 12:47 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Iowa #4 (12-0) comes into the Big Ten Championship Game undefeated to play Michigan State #5 (11-1) this weekend in Indianapolis at Lucas Field Stadium. Kick off is at 7:17pm (Central) on Fox.

Iowa had an historic season and the players feel hard work in the off season is one reason they were able to run the table. This is there first season 12-0 and their first opportunity to play in the Big Ten Title game. They beat Nebraska this past weekend after clinching a spot for the West division in the Championship game beating Purdue the week before.

Michigan State is looking confident coming out of a victory against Ohio State and Penn State. Connor Cook is a big time prospect that has a number of big wins under his belt while Iowa has an unknown player in CJ Beathard leading them, and they didn’t beat anyone too difficult to get to the title match.

  Ohio State Michigan 2015

Ohio State Michigan 2015

Some fans are worried that the Buckeyes #8 (10-1) have run out of gas after a lackluster showing at home against the Spartans last weekend. Ohio State needs to get the ball down the field to players like Braxton Miller to open up the running game for Ezekiel Elliot.

Michigan #12 (9-2) is feeling good about themselves heading into “The Game” with most parts of their game ticking. Their offense isn’t as good as their defense but if they can avoid turnovers they have a shot at beating Urban Meyer.

Ohio State has incredible talent, doesn’t have the pressure to be the best team in country that they had before, and are now more motivated than ever to beat their long time rivals. All of Buckeye Nation is hoping adjustments have been made this week to put up some serous points on a really good defense.

Michigan State was ranked the 26th team in total defense and Ohio State could only put up 132 yards of offense and five first downs. Michigan has the 4th best defense in the country, it will be a big test for the OSU offense in the The Big House.

On The OSU Football Schedule–The Michigan State Spartans
Posted by: Steve - 11-21-2015, 08:04 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

MSU Spartan

OSU Football Schedule

The Buckeyes (10-0) have a record 30 regular season wins and 23 wins in a row. And this one is at home in front of an enthusiastic Buckeye Nation on Senior Day. They haven’t played anyone that difficult, although everyone gives them their all, so this is the one game they have really been looking forward to.

The OSU Buckeyes need to score 30 points this weekend to put the Spartans away. Starting JT Barrett will be a big help in getting going early, as he will tuck and run for big gains when needed. Michigan State would love to force JT to pass the ball more than he wants to, as they feel that is a weakness for the Buckeyes.

Jalin Marshall returning punts, 12.7 yards a punt could break one. Receiving this weekend could also be huge for Marshall. And Braxton Miller could have a big role if the Buckeyes can get the ball into his hands. Starting center Jacoby Boren needs to have a big game opening up Elliot to make big plays on the ground and dominate the way Ohio State did last season against MSU.

Joey Bosa can help make MSU one dimensional by stopping any run attack the Spartans try to establish.

The Latest News about Braxton Miller’s Injury
Posted by: Steve - 11-15-2015, 12:24 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Ohio State fans have been worrying about the condition of their star player, Braxton Miller. They have been concerned about his condition more than anything else. They hope this player is able to finish the season without hassles. Perhaps they don’t worry about his repaired shoulder surgery as there have been no problems with it. Yet, there was something that makes them worry. It is Braxton’s game in Minnesota. He was seen slammed onto the field and apparently hurt his head. Fortunately, he was able to leave the field of play with the help from the medical staff. The rest of the the game against the Golden Gophers, he wasn’t able to participate.

Urban Meyer Talks about Miller’s Condition

Urban Meyer as the head coach of the OSU Buckeyes gave a statement in the weekly press conference before the Ohio State Illinois game. He stated his player will be fine. He would give further information about Braxton’s condition. He didn’t think his player would have any limitations with his injury. The head coach has given a signal that Miller would be able to participate in a game at Illinois this week. Meyer said that Braxton is good to go for the game. Meyer also gave the information related to Braxton’s health condition. For now, Miller is dealing with a sore neck. It’s due to the aggressive tackle against Minnesota.

JT Barrett Loses Aid After Driving OVI
Posted by: Steve - 11-04-2015, 02:05 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Urban Meyer told the press today that starting quarterback and team captain JT Barrett will lose one semester of aid in addition to being suspended for the upcoming game against Minnesota. He was arrested over the weekend for driving under the influence at a police checkpoint near campus. Barrett will have to pay his own way when he attends class in the summer of 2016.

To participate in conditioning and skill work outs over next summer, he will need to participate in classes.

Urban Meyer Talks Penn State and Rutgers
Posted by: Steve - 10-24-2015, 10:13 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Urban Meyer talked this week with the media about players coming off of the game against Penn State going into Rutgers Saturday night. He reported that freshman running back Mike Weber is almost completely back from injury. He also stated that freshman coming in to help after injuries and penalties to others include KJ Hill at wide receiver and Jerome Baker at linebacker. Can Williams has to sit after a targeting penalty last week.

Injuries continue to plague the team with Parris Campbell out for a couple more weeks, Dontre Wilson is out, and Johnnie Dixon has tendonitis.

The team has had a slow start in a couple of recent games but seems to have found the answer to their offensive trouble with the game against Maryland and continued against Penn State. The switch to using Cardale Jones and JT Barrett has helped move the ball in the red zone or close to the end zone. They hope to get some third down conversions early this weekend to score on the first drive. We might see Barrett on third downs if Jones proves ineffective early in the game.

Ohio State Wearing Black Uniforms Saturday Against Penn State
Posted by: Steve - 10-15-2015, 06:56 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Ohio State is asking fans to wear black for a black out against Penn State Saturday night in the Shoe. The team will be wearing their new black uniforms for the first time. The team might be distracted by the uniform change but they are feeling great about their new two quarterback scheme that worked wonders against Maryland last week.

Injuries for Ohio State Going Into Maryland Weekend
Posted by: Steve - 10-08-2015, 02:46 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Urban Meyer lost one of the star receivers for the Maryland game this weekend in Corey Smith. The senior receiver was injured during the Indiana game this past weekend and similar to Noah brown is out for the year. Ohio State continues to have receiver troubles.

Meyer might apply for a 6th year of eligibility for Corey Smith who was a Junior Varsity transfer student starting in 2013. This year would have been his last year but if they can get a medical hardship he will have one more year of eligibility.

Ohio State Playing Indiana On The Road
Posted by: Steve - 10-05-2015, 03:15 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Indiana has a 4-0 record this year to match the Buckeyes as Big Ten play begins and fans have already sold out the stadium for Saturday’s game. Coach Kevin Wilson is letting his 18-34 record over 4 season as Indians head coach deter his intention of knocking of the top ranked team in the country. The Hoosiers enter the game as 22 point underdogs and their might be just as many Buckeye fans in the seats as there are Hoosier fans.
