JK Dobbins Commits To The Ohio State Buckeyes
Posted by: Steve - 03-11-2016, 12:41 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

JK Dobbins

JK Dobbins, the all-purpose back from La Grange, TX has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Although this announcement was a surprise to many, Dobbins confirmed the commitment on his Twitter page.

Most people thought that this 5'10 200 pound high school player was going to commit to the Texas Longhorns or either the Oklahoma Sooners. So, when it comes to committing to the Ohio Buckeyes, no one saw this coming. However, Dobbins had already said that he was making an early decision. Also, the head coach Urban Meyer did not offer JK Dobbins until a couple of weeks ago. This is even stranger to say he hasn't made recent trips to Columbus. His last known trip to Columbus was back in May.

Big Day for Buckeyes at Combine
Posted by: Steve - 03-03-2016, 05:29 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

It's that time of year again. The time when college football players are analyzed and critiqued at every angle to determine if they are ready for the NFL. The 2016 NFL Combine saw a number of players from across the nation including the Ohio State University. A total of fourteen Ohio State players got an invite to the combine(more than any other school in the nation). Of those fourteen, there are a few locks to be drafted in April and a number of question marks.

There are three solid NFL draft locks, following the 2016 combine. Defensive linemen Joey Bosa figures to go early in the first round, possibly even number 1 with the Titans. Bosa actually made a request to include linebacker drills (a request that was later denied). At 6' 6" and 269 pounds Bosa ran a 4.86 40 with a 1.69 split at 10 yards. While not outstanding, the marks are solid. With 26.0 sacks over three Ohio State seasons he is a lock to be drafted.

Malik Harrison from Walnut Ridge Picks the Buckeyes
Posted by: Steve - 02-07-2016, 12:28 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

At a ceremony this morning at Walnut Ridge High School, Malik Harrison selected the home-town Buckeyes for his college. Harrison wants to major in Physical Therapy at OSU and in addition to football, he very much liked the academics of the school. He could play linebacker or wide receiver at the next level. He really wants to play offense and his coach agrees that he would be a great addition at the receiver spot. (Ad: Take a look at TurboTax 2015 at 2015Taxes.org)

Harrison always wanted to play for OSU and could hardly keep quiet waiting for the ceremony today. Many are comparing him to Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee.

Rodjay Burns Joins the Buckeye 2016 Class
Posted by: Steve - 01-31-2016, 12:27 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Rodjay Burns visited over the weekend and committed to Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes. He flipped from Louisville, his home town team, to Ohio State after sitting down with his parents.

A 3 star cornerback from Trinity High School. He is underrated at only 3 stars. He’s a big corner at 6’2”, the kind of corner that Ohio State likes. He played safety this past season in high school, so he is versatile as a defensive back. The coaches really showed Burns how much they need him on the team and how the plan to use him when he arrives in the fall.

Keandre Jones Makes Switch to Ohio State
Posted by: Steve - 01-22-2016, 06:09 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Maryland Linebacker Keandre Jones has made it publically known that he will sign with Ohio State over Maryland in a few weeks. At 6’3” and 198 lbs, the outstanding 4 star linebacker had been a member of the Maryland recruiting class for close to a year before his weekend’s visit to OSU in Columbus. He is an Under Armour All American, the 9th best linebacker in the country, and highly sought after.

Ohio State Notre Dame Fiesta Bowl
Posted by: Steve - 12-31-2015, 12:49 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Ohio State is in Arizona practicing for the Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame on New Years Day. Both teams had late losses in their seasons that kept them out of the four team playoff.

Ohio State comes into the game ranked 7th while Notre Dame is ranked 8th. Both teams have huge fan bases. OSU is favored by 6.5 points.

Ohio State came back in the final game of the season against Michigan big, winning 42-13. And Michigan was supposed to be one of the best defenses in the country this year.

Defensive Tackle Adolphus Washington will not play in the game after being cited for solicitation. Joey Bosa could move inside to fill the gap. Bosa has 16 tackles for loss on the season.

  Big Ten Bowl Games 2015
Posted by: Steve - 12-13-2015, 12:25 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Big Ten Bowl Games

The Big Ten got 10 teams into bowl games this season and have three top 10 ranked squads. This will be a very exciting bowl season for all fans in Big 10 country.

Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic (College Football Playoff Semifinal); 8 p.m. Dec. 31

No. 3 Michigan State (12-1) vs. No. 2 Alabama (12-1)

This is the best game Michigan State has gotten in years and although they are beat up a little, are hoping to take the next step to the title match.

BattleFrog Fiesta Bowl; 1 p.m., Jan. 1

No. 7 Ohio State (11-1) vs. No. 8 Notre Dame (10-2)

A great match-up for both teams with a lot of NFL talent on both sides. Too bad Notre Dame is going to lose.

Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual; 5 p.m., Jan. 1

No. 5 Iowa (12-1) vs. No. 6 Stanford (11-2)

Iowa hopes to finish off a great season with one more win. Both these teams were looking at the playoff until they lost at the end of the year.

Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl; 1 p.m., Jan. 1

No. 14 Michigan (9-3) vs. No. 19 Florida (10-3)

Two great defenses go up against each other. Can’t imagine Michigan getting beat again after Ohio State made them look silly.

Outback Bowl; 12:00 p.m., Jan. 1

No. 13 Northwestern (10-2) vs. No. 23 Tennessee (8-4)

A great season by Northwestern which would love to finish strong in this uneven match-up.

Holiday Bowl; 10:30 p.m., Dec. 30
Wisconsin (9-3) vs. No. 25 USC (8-5)

Wisconsin’s strong defense against USC’s weak offense and visa versa in this battle. Why is USC ranked and not Wisconsin?

TaxSlayer Bowl; 12:00 p.m., Jan. 2
Penn State (7-5) vs. Georgia (9-3)

This could be a really bad game with a Penn State team that is fading and a Georgia team without a coach.

New Era Pinstripe Bowl; 3:30 p.m., Dec. 26
Indiana (6-6) vs. Duke (7-5)

Indiana is hoping to get a bowl win before they lose quarterback Nate Sudfeld to graduation and running back Jordan Howard to the NFL.

Foster Farms Bowl; 9:15 p.m., Dec. 26
Nebraska (5-7) vs. UCLA (8-4)

Nebraska had a losing season but the NCAA money hogs want more games so here we go.

Quick Lane Bowl; 5 p.m., Dec. 28
Minnesota (5-7) vs. Central Michigan (7-5)

Minnesota also had a losing season which makes this game stink out loud, at least it’s a MAC team so it might be competitive for a while.

Iowa Michigan State Big Ten Championship Game 2015
Posted by: Steve - 12-03-2015, 12:47 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Iowa #4 (12-0) comes into the Big Ten Championship Game undefeated to play Michigan State #5 (11-1) this weekend in Indianapolis at Lucas Field Stadium. Kick off is at 7:17pm (Central) on Fox.

Iowa had an historic season and the players feel hard work in the off season is one reason they were able to run the table. This is there first season 12-0 and their first opportunity to play in the Big Ten Title game. They beat Nebraska this past weekend after clinching a spot for the West division in the Championship game beating Purdue the week before.

Michigan State is looking confident coming out of a victory against Ohio State and Penn State. Connor Cook is a big time prospect that has a number of big wins under his belt while Iowa has an unknown player in CJ Beathard leading them, and they didn’t beat anyone too difficult to get to the title match.

  Ohio State Michigan 2015
Posted by: Steve - 11-29-2015, 12:24 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Ohio State Michigan 2015

Some fans are worried that the Buckeyes #8 (10-1) have run out of gas after a lackluster showing at home against the Spartans last weekend. Ohio State needs to get the ball down the field to players like Braxton Miller to open up the running game for Ezekiel Elliot.

Michigan #12 (9-2) is feeling good about themselves heading into “The Game” with most parts of their game ticking. Their offense isn’t as good as their defense but if they can avoid turnovers they have a shot at beating Urban Meyer.

Ohio State has incredible talent, doesn’t have the pressure to be the best team in country that they had before, and are now more motivated than ever to beat their long time rivals. All of Buckeye Nation is hoping adjustments have been made this week to put up some serous points on a really good defense.

Michigan State was ranked the 26th team in total defense and Ohio State could only put up 132 yards of offense and five first downs. Michigan has the 4th best defense in the country, it will be a big test for the OSU offense in the The Big House.

On The OSU Football Schedule–The Michigan State Spartans
Posted by: Steve - 11-21-2015, 08:04 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

MSU Spartan

OSU Football Schedule

The Buckeyes (10-0) have a record 30 regular season wins and 23 wins in a row. And this one is at home in front of an enthusiastic Buckeye Nation on Senior Day. They haven’t played anyone that difficult, although everyone gives them their all, so this is the one game they have really been looking forward to.

The OSU Buckeyes need to score 30 points this weekend to put the Spartans away. Starting JT Barrett will be a big help in getting going early, as he will tuck and run for big gains when needed. Michigan State would love to force JT to pass the ball more than he wants to, as they feel that is a weakness for the Buckeyes.

Jalin Marshall returning punts, 12.7 yards a punt could break one. Receiving this weekend could also be huge for Marshall. And Braxton Miller could have a big role if the Buckeyes can get the ball into his hands. Starting center Jacoby Boren needs to have a big game opening up Elliot to make big plays on the ground and dominate the way Ohio State did last season against MSU.

Joey Bosa can help make MSU one dimensional by stopping any run attack the Spartans try to establish.
