Ohio State Coaches Not Pleased with Offensive Performance

The weekly Players of the Week were released today for the USC game and no offensive players were given the award. Mike Adams was given offensive Player of the Week for the scout team by the coaching staff. Adams was suspended for the first game of the season and might have been eligible for the game against USC but did not get on the field. Boom Herron received the Jack Tatum Hit of the Week award. It’s somewhat rare for a running back to receive this award, buck his nickname is Boom.

Defensive Player of the Week was given to Devon Torrence and Cameron Heyward was the Attack Force Player of the Week. Torrence started for the first time in his career and was solid at the corner position. He had a number of tackles in addition to a late sack which put USC up against Ohio State’s goal line. Heyward was consistently in the back field against the USC offensive line, disrupted plays on a regular basis.

Others on the scout team given awards were Spencer Smith for the defensive and Nate Ebner for special teams. Jon Thoma was given the special teams Player of the Week for his punts within the 20 yard line which put USC in poor field position throughout the game.

An number of Offensive Players had good games including Boom Herron, DeVier Posey, and Dane Sanzenbacher but the Coaches didn’t feel the offensive provided the points needed to win the game after the defense played exceptionally most of the night.
