Also shown is Lyons speed in the open field, his kick return ability, many of the 21 tackles for loss that he had last season, his sure tackling, his make up speed, and pass rushing skill. As a junior, Lyons had 87 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 8 break ups. This followed a sophomore year when he had 95 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and a fumble recovery.
