As a senior at Mission Viejo High School, Phillip Bell was among the best uncommitted players in California and had begun his last season of high school football Friday. However, this situation did not go on for long! With the commitment by Bell, Brian Hartline who is the wide receiver coach for Ohio State acquired one more first-rate talent in the 2025 class.
Celebrating with a Win
Just hours after Akron lost to Ohio State 52 to 6 in the season opener at the horseshoe stadium on September 3rd, Bell declared plans to join the Buckeyes. The team is currently number two in the country and has a 1-0 record making it an exhilarating time for fans of Ohio state.
Choosing the Buckeyes
Bell had a lot of options on the table, including offers from Southern California, Georgia, Penn State, Alabama, and Washington. But in the end, he chose to don the scarlet and gray. This is a big win for Ohio State, especially with Hartline's knack for developing standout wide receivers.

Bell's journey to this point has been impressive. He’s gravitating towards greatness at Mission Viejo because of his quickness, nimbleness and capability to make dramatic plays; an impressive record he has maintained throughout school. Thanks to such exploits, he attracted lots of college interest.

The timing of Bell's commitment is also interesting. As of September 1, the Division 1 evaluation period has just commenced, which means that college coaches are currently journeying around observing high school matches. This period lasts up until December 1 and thus Bell's games would solely be filled with scouts who want to watch him play live.

Regarding the recruiting class of 2025 for Ohio State, they still have more work to do. Currently, they are seeking to boost several important areas such as offensive line, defensive back and linebacker.
