Ohio State Returns Home Against Indiana Saturday at the Horseshoe 4pm

The 27-26 victory over Penn State was an instant classic with the visitors down 12 points with only 8 minutes left in the game. If you want to see that match again, take a look at the TV listings Friday night and you’ll find a prime time reshowing. OSU now has four sub-par opponents that they should be able to beat easily without much worry.

Indiana is hoping Ohio State is hung over from the big win and they can sneak out a victory. The Hoosiers are 4-1 with one win and one lose in conference play. Last weekend they took down Rutgers 21-14. Ohio State is currently favored by 27.5 points, coming into the game ranked 3rd nationally. You can catch the game on FOX at 4pm if you cannot make it to the Horseshoe (Ohio Stadium) this weekend.

Haskins looked great in the fourth quarter last week after having some unfamiliar accuracy issues early on. Ohio State vs Penn State in Beaver Stadium 2018
Posted by: Steve - 09-28-2018, 05:47 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

A whiteout in Beaver Stadium is something fans are used to. Ohio State is favored by 3.5 points.

Urban Liar

Urban Meyer is back for second game since being suspended by the university for not properly reporting domestic abuse allegations against his now fired wide-receivers coach. Fans at Penn State have come out with ‘Urban Liar’ shirts that caused Shelley Meyer to fire back at the school on social media for its hospitality.

Dwayne Haskins

Dwayne Haskins continues to be the main story with 16 touchdowns threw 4 games, and a great performance against Tulane where he went 21 of 24 for 5 touchdowns and over 300 yards. His Heisman candidacy looks better every week with most commentators sure that he will get drafted into the NFL as soon as he is eligible.

Playoff Hopes

Losing on Saturday will make it harder to reach the NCAA playoff at the end of the season while winning almost ensures you are in the Top 4. Both teams need to finish the rest of their season’s unbeaten and get some help to have both make the playoff.

Ohio State v TCU Saturday in Arlington Texas
Posted by: Steve - 09-13-2018, 07:52 PM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

Little Sisters of the Poor

Remember when Gordon Gee, former Ohio State University President, said that Ohio State didn’t play the Little Sisters of the Poor and that’s why TCU didn’t belong in the Bowl Championship. Wisconsin found out in the Rose Bowl that year, 2011, that TCU is a pretty good program. Now TCU, ranked 15th in the country, is set to play Ohio State (#4) in Arlington Texas on Saturday in prime-time. The original home and home set in 2018 was changed to the single neutral site at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Jump Start to the Playoffs

The TCU Horn Frogs are hoping to jump start their College playoff birth this year with a win against the talented OSU Buckeyes. Gary Patterson will lead the TCU team on Saturday at 8pm on ABC while Urban Meyer will still be serving a three game suspension. Patterson feels that Ohio State is stronger because of the suspension of their head coach for not reporting domestic abuse allegations against his former wide-receivers coach.. TCU joined the Big 12 from the Mountain West and comes into the game with many returning defensive line starters.

Ohio State Size

Ohio State comes with one of the largest offensive lines in the country, moving Michael Jordan to center from guard in the off-season. The Ohio State line averages 6’6” and 313 lbs. TCU has a small and athletic defensive line averaging 6’2” and 254 lbs. Ohio State plays zone-read with blocks and run/play/option plays. Their size makes moving the ball easy.

Dwayne Haskins Jr

But the real story has been the break-out performance of quarterback Dwayne Haskins who has powered the OSU offense to 1,300 yards in two games and thrown for 9 touchdowns. Ryan Day, interim head coach, commented on Haskins improvement on the field but more importantly in the film room and the weight room. Haskins understands the position better this year than he did last year because of a good amount of study. And he is stronger because of time working with the strength and conditioning team.

Big Ten Season Kick Off with Ohio State v Rutgers Saturday

Bosa added two fumble recoveries and a touchdown. Defensive End Chase Young had two quarterback hurries. This weekend they will get another chance to add to their sack totals.

Odds

In the first game with Urban Meyer not on the field, Ohio State was able to put up 700 yards against Oregon State last weekend but allowed 31 points. The final score of 77-31 beat the 40 point spread. This week the Buckeyes will face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the Shoe at 3:30pm (Big Ten Network). The Knights beat Texas State 35-7 last weekend. Initial odds have Ohio State starting 2-0 with a 33 point win against the team from New Jersey.

Rutgers Hopes to Score

Rutgers Coach Chris Ash is looking at scoring points this weekend against OSU. He likes what the team did last weekend with a balanced attack of over 200 yards passing and 200 yards rushing. He realizes that Ohio State has speed and talent and that they play really hard.

Ohio State Will Spread You Out

All Eyes On Urban Meyer Investigation

In two weeks, the football-loving public will be handed the verdict regarding the Urban Meyer investigation. Despite other football news craving for attention in the media, CNN has caved in to the pressure of covering every aspect of the ongoing investigation.

The Urban Meyer investigation isn't about the football coach as a person. Rather, it has to do with how much the coach in his professional capacity knew, how soon and above all, how he handled the knowledge that his assistant Zach Smith was involved in a domestic violence issue with his wife in 2015. To this effect, the group tasked with conducting the Urban Meyer investigation has just appointed veteran Ohio politician Jo Ann Davidson as chairperson.

If the Urban Meyer investigation runs its due course, Ohio State, the beacon of American football, will regain its esteemed position as an entity that leaves no stone unturned when it comes to any investigation. Accordingly, Mary Jo White, a former high-ranking official of the Securities and Exchange Commission, has been assigned the top post of the investigative team.

What Does Brian Hartline Bring To The Coaching Staff At Ohio State

And if anything is to go by, his playing years as a wide out for the buckeyes will certainly add an extra edge to his caching.

Though he is currently employed on an interim basis, Brian Hartline seems to be a strong candidate for a permanent position to lead a group of talented players. Paris Johnson Jr. Will Play OT At OSU

Building on the news of Lejond Cavazos' commitment, Johnson Jr. is the second major Class of 2020 recruit that OSU has entered negotiations with so far.

Highly Sought After

The 6-foot-7 285-pound OT from St. Xavier is a Cincinnati native, and he's listed as the second overall prospect at the offensive position in his class. In spite of the fact that he's only played in parts of two high school seasons, Johnson Jr. received scholarship offers from over 40 different colleges.

Paris Johnson Jr. says this is a major opportunity for him since it gives him the chance to represent his home state. In agreeing to play for OSU, he's elected to pass up a chance with the Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers. It doesn't seem like he minds at all, though.

 D.J. Carton Joins The Buckeyes

Carton for 2019. On Saturday, Ohio State obtained a big commitment by persuading D.J. Carton, the five-star point guard from the Class of 2019, to join their ranks.

Emerged from Obscurity

Carlton, who stands at five foot eleven inches, made a splash on the national recruitment arena this spring, when he emerged from obscurity to be a top prospect. While Carton does not play on any big shoe company circuits, he impressed college coaches and national scouts with his abilities over the April live assessment with Quad Elite Cities --- the same group that produced top players such as Montana State's Tyler Hall and Wisconsin's Ethan Happ.

A dynamic player who can function over the rim, Carton displayed many attributes during the American Basketball Under Eighteen trials in June, while competing against lots of the leading athletes in his group.

How Jack Miller III Emerges As The 2020 Ohio Recruiting Class Secret Weapon
Posted by: Steve - 07-11-2018, 03:12 AM - Forum: Football and Basketball - No Replies

In Jack Miller III, Ohio State has finally found a man it can depend on both the field and out. And that spells trouble for anyone who isn't a Buckeye. Jack Miller III gave his pledge after a Friday night recruitment spree.

Jack Miller III is a four-star quarterback who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. With him on board, there's nothing stopping the Buckeyes now from achieving their objectives. And that's why everyone in the team has been seen jumping for joy lately. The team is confident that it has everything it needs to put the pressure on.

National Perception

No. 47, as everyone knows is a young but very driven man. At 6' 4" and 210 pounds, Jack Miller III is definitely a lean and mean fighting machine. But you really have to watch his commando-like demeanor to believe, although his play stats say it all.

Let's hear it from Tim Kohner who had the privilege of coaching Jack Miller III for years at school. Kohner's take on the man sounds like he's describing the abilities of the Bionic Man. And who can blame him?
