Place kicker Aaron Pettrey has had a long road to a starting position for Ohio State. As a 5th year senior this year he is the main kicker in the rotation and was the main kicker at the OSU kick scrimmage this past week where he kicked the winning field goal. He took on a bigger role last season moving from just kicking off to also attempting longer field goals. This year he should handle the kickoffs for the third year in a row and also handle all field goal attempts for the Buckeyes.

Jim Cordle moves to the tackle position this spring as Michigan transfer Justin Boren takes over at the left guard position and Bryant Browning switches from right tackle to right guard. This could be a temporary position for Cordle as right tackle JB Shugarts is still recovering from shoulder surgery this spring and could take the position during fall camp. And the coaches are looking to rotate the offensive line often in the spring to find the best line-up possible for the fall.

After an early first round NCAA loss to Siena on Friday night, questions turn to who will stay and who will be leaving the basketball program for the NBA this summer. The three players that are within reach of an NBA contract are freshman center BJ Mullens, freshman guard William Buford and sophomore small forward Evan Turner. And with a revolving door of great talent coming through Ohio State will Coach Matta be able to return to the highest pinnacle of college coaching?

The Buckeyes got help from every person on the team with great performances by Evan Turner, Jon Diebler, William Buford, and BJ Mullens. After the game Evan Turner discussed how they made adjustments after losing two regular season games to the Spartans and how he came back from not scoring in the first half to scoring 18 points in the second.

David Durham made a weekend visit to Ohio State in early February and walked away committed to be a Buckeye for the 2010 class. The Austin Texas Westlake linebacker found what he was looking for in Coach Tresel, Coach Fickell, and the LEO position. We found out why he committed early to OSU and what he hopes to accomplish as a senior this coming year.

His high school career has been a mix of success on the football field and wrestling. "I’ve had some big moments like blind-siding the quarterback for a fumble in the Austin High game (big rivalry), playing in the Texas 5A play-offs in the Alamodome, going deep in the play-offs this year, and making all-state in wrestling 2 years in a row." For this past season he put up very impressive defensive numbers. "[My statistics were] 82 tackles and 11.5 sacks for 2008." he reported to us when we contacted him this week.
