The approximately month-long NCAA football recruiting dead period has gotten underway as of this past Sunday. Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeye's were able to capitalize just before the downtime by securing a verbal commitment from a four-star defensive tackle from Streetsboro, Ohio, Mike Hall. What can fans expect from Hall as a member of Ohio State's 2021 class?

Mike Hall on Rivals

With six of the Buckeye's 10 commitments for 2021 residing in the state of Ohio, the commitment of Mike Hall further entrenches Ohio State as having the No. 1 ranked recruiting class. Hall is listed at 6'3", 290 lbs. and grew up in Northeast Ohio. According to Rivals.com, he is the 75th ranked player in the country, 6th ranked defensive tackle in the country, and 4th ranked player in the state of Ohio, respectively.

MikeĀ  Hall Scholarship Offers

Mike Hall has been feverishly sought after throughout his recruitment process from some of the most successful programs in college football. The list of schools that recruited him included Georgia, Penn State, Arizona St., Florida State, Indiana, Kent State, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia. Hall was offered scholarships from all of Akron, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kentucky, Ohio State, Michigan State, and Toledo according to ESPN.

Why Select Ohio State

When the larger than life Hall had a sit down with head coach Ryan Day and defensive line coach Larry Johnson Saturday afternoon, he was convinced beyond a reasonable doubt Ohio State is where he wanted to be. In a recent interview, Mike Hall was asked what he liked about Ohio State and what helped him make the decision. This is what he had to say regarding that as told to Jeremy Birmingham of Lettermen-Row:

"It has always been a childhood dream of mine to play for Ohio State. I was just impressed and in awe of the atmosphere on campus and all the facilities. The coaches and recruiters are really great people that want their players to succeed in life beyond football. Coach Day is an influential person that makes you feel at home." Hall said.

One respected and highly acclaimed scout, went out on a limb to proclaim Mike Hall as the greatest defensive tackle prospect from the state of Ohio over the last decade. The Streetsboro high school standout's most glaring strengths are undoubtedly getting off of the ball and pushing through the line. A dominant and bruising force, Hall admitted in the same interview he gets more of a thrill from rushing the passer than stuffing the run. Before taking the field at the next level, a couple of weaknesses he could focus on improving are hand placement and hip technique.

What Mike Hall Offers Ohio State

A few reasons Mike Hall is expected to be a great college football player include the fact he has a high motor, and never takes plays off. What impresses coaches most are his quick feet (he moves extraordinarily well for a player his size). With all of the talent Ohio State has locked up during this year's season of recruiting, the Buckeye's already have their core nucleus of elite players when they suit up for the 2021 season.
