Getting to know Cameron Martinez
#1

CAMERONMARTINEZ

Cameron Martinez is one heck of a prize for the Buckeyes. A Player who can excel at multiple positions. But there is a lot left unanswered about this newest 4-Star recruit to call Ohio State home. So let's breakdown why he choose OSU and more importantly where he might play.

CAMERON MARTINEZ HAD HIS LIST OF SUITORS.

29 scholarship offers in fact.

Including

- Notre Dame
- Boston College
- Florida State
- Syracuse
- Penn State
- Michigan State
And, oh yeah, MICHIGAN.

He also visited Northwestern, Minnesota, Iowa State, Kentucky and the aforementioned Penn State.

HE GREW UP A MICHIGAN FAN AND HAD DREAMS OF DONNING BLUE

"I think it was definitely hard, being in state, being from Michigan. Michigan and Michigan State were always schools I thought about playing for and dreamed of playing for growing up-- So it's definitely hard, but just the way the process was going. But thinking about it, it was definitely a sacrifice not playing in state and going out of state to a program that is going to be playing those teams."

BUT HE WANTED TO BE A BUCKEYE.

Though Ohio State was one of the last teams to offer him a scholarship, it's what OSU offers beyond the field of play that lured Martinez to become a Buckeye. "I think a lot of it was life after football It's what a lot of people don't know." Martinez recently said. "That coaching staff really puts you in position to be successful not just on the field but of the field." It seems Cameron Martinez is looking to join the "O" Hall of Fame.

WHAT POSITION WILL HE PLAY?

Though very successful as a QB in High School, rushing for 1500 yards and 24 TD's on a 140 carries and throwing for 481 yards and 9 more touchdowns, he will probably play on the other side of the ball at Safety. But that won't stop OSU at lining him up at WR, HB, RB and CB where he had success in the past. The Buckeyes coaching staff must feel like a kid in a candy store.

THERE HAS BEEN CONFLICTING REPORTS ON HIS HEIGHT AND SIZE

Some scouts had him listed at 5-11 and 185 while others had him at 5-10 and 174. He has also been listed at 6-0 and 195. There is a big difference between being 5-10 and 174 compared to 6-0 and 195. Whatever his true size will surely dictate where he plays on the field.
