Matthew Baldwin is a gradually rising football star. He was raised in Texas by his parents, Michael and Mindy Baldwin. He was one of the ten from a 2018 recruiting class to join Ohio State in January 2018. His stay at Ohio State was a short one after he choose to transfer.

Matthew says the main reason for the transfer is due to home sickness. His transfer from Ohio comes after him nursing a knee injury from the 2017 Texas state playoffs.

Ryan Day, a quarterbacks coach played a vital role for Matthew to join Ohio State. He convinced Urban Meyer, then Ohio State head coach, to bring Matthew into the Buckeyes team. Meyer was impressed with Matthew after watching a film of him playing. He was struck by Matthew’s loyalty to his high school program at Lake Travis High School.

Later when Ohio State announced the retirement for Urban Meyer as the head coach, Ryan Day was made the head coach full time.Ryan runs the quarterbacks as a guru. He was once a quarterback too. He has played an integral part in molding Matthew and his other playmates like J.T Barrett and Dwayne Haskins, whom he had inherited form the former recruiting class of 2017.

Ryan nurtured Dwayne so vigorously that he went on to lead a record breaking Ohio State offense. Matthew watched him keenly learning lots from him. He saw Dwayne as someone he could emulate.

Ryan Day had the same expectations on Matthew, expecting better from him. Matthew took up the challenge and he was worked real hard.

When star Dwayne Haskins left the Ohio State team to contest for the 2019 NFL draft. Dwayne had been ranked as the top quarterback drafted for 2019 NFL and speculated to be 6th overall by the New York Giants. Dwayne had worked hard to take after J.T Barrett.
