Ohio State Players In The 2020 NFL Draft
#1

JeffOkudah

The Ohio State Buckeyes have been a football powerhouse for decades, supplying the NFL with many different players. The 2020 NFL draft was no different as 10 different Buckeye players were selected. Below are the 10 different players that were drafted by different teams in the NFL.

Chase Young DE - Round 1, Pick 2 - Washington Redskins

Chase Young is arguable the best player in the NFL draft, amassing an impressive 21 sacks with Ohio State last year. Young is poised to help lift the lowly Washington Redskins whose defense was 27th in total yards and points allowed last season. Unfortunately, the Redskins are a dysfunctional organization with a history of alienating their star players. Only a high character player will excel in the current hostile environment in Washington, and Young, though not known for having significant character problems, is also not known for his high character either.

Jeff Okudah CB - Round 1, Pick 3 - Detroit Lions

Jeff Okudah is a perfect fit for the Detroit Lions, a team that struggled on defense last season. Okudah is both an elite on the ball defender and an expert tackler, a quality becoming more important for cornerbacks in the increasingly short pass driven NFL. Detroit does not have a great history as a stable organization but has seen some measure of stability during the last decade under the leadership of QB Matthew Stafford.

Damon Arnette CB - Round 1, Pick 19 - Oakland Raiders

Damon Arnette is another top defensive back prospect from Ohio State, though not as good as Okudah. Arnette is physical, has good speed, but at times lacks good instincts as he is prone to grab receivers. Jon Gruden isn't known for having a disciplined team so Arnette may not be the best fit for the Raiders.

J.K. Dobbins RB - Round 2, Pick 23 - Baltimore Ravens

J.K. Dobbins is an elite north and south running back that does not possess great pass-catching skills. While he will help Baltimore as a replacement for an aging Mark Ingram, Lamar Jackson could have used a better pass-catching target.

Davon Hamilton DT - Round 3, Pick 9 - Jacksonville Jaguars

Davon Hamilton is a good run defender that has recently improved his pass defense. However, his speed and length are average, and Jacksonville is another organization that doesn't treat its top players well. Hamilton will improve the Jaguars in the short-term but may not last long there.

Jonah Jackson OG - Round 3, Pick 11 - Detroit Lions

Jonah Jackson is a good all-around offensive lineman with a decent upside. Although not as heralded as some of the other offensive linemen in the draft, he will be a solid addition to the Detroit Lions.

Malik Harrison ILB - Round 3, Pick 34 - Baltimore Ravens

Malik Harrison is an outstanding linebacker who will help the Ravens' inconsistencies on defense. Harrison is very good at rushing the passer but needs work in pass coverage.

Jordan Fuller S - Round 6, Pick 20 - Los Angeles Rams

Jordan Fuller, the 3rd member of the Ohio State secondary to be drafted, has good instincts and size that makes up for his speed, which is a little below what NFL teams would prefer at safety. He has below average man-to-man cover skills, which is not good, even for safeties, because of the emphasis on passing in the NFL. He will give the Rams much-needed depth in their secondary, but little else.

K.J. Hill WR - Round 7, Pick 6 - Los Angeles Chargers

K.J. Hill is a good slot receiver that lacks the speed to be a deep threat. He could potentially have success as a security blanket for #6 overall pick Justin Herbert. Hopefully the North Little Rock HS product catches on at the next level.

Jashon Cornell DE, Round 7, Pick 21 - Detroit Lions

Jashon Cornell started just one year at Ohio State and probably will not see much playing time in his NFL career. He might have some success as an interior pass rusher.
