Daniel Boom Herron Injury Gives Brandon Saine a Start

Running back Daniel ‘Boom’ Herron will not get the start this coming weekend for Ohio State against Indiana as his sprained ankle has limited his participation in practice this week. Herron was a big part of the Buckeye victory last Saturday as new starter Brandon Saine and himself run for 156 yards on the Illini.

Brandon Saine to Start

Head Coach Jim Tressel made the announcement today that Brandon Saine will get the start over Boom Herron and freshman Jordan Hall for the 7pm start this weekend in Bloomington. “Brandon Saine and Jordan Hall will get the bulk of the work,” Coach Tressel stated. An ankle sprain suffered during the Illinois game has limited Herron in practice this week although Coach Tressel feels Herron is 85% at this time. Herron will travel with the team and looks to be a part of the running attack.

Jordan Hall Gets Reps

The running attack for Ohio State this season has been a combination of Herron, Saine, Hall and sophomore quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Hall has reportedly been a big benefactor of the Herron injury this week in practice. Hall has had a couple good performances late in the game against Toledo and again in the fourth quarter against Illinois.

Jaamal Berry Still Out

There was hope true freshman Jaamal Berry would be able to compete the week and also add to the mix at running back this weekend. But Coach Tressel does not feel Berry will travel with the team as he was not able to practice with the team due to his lingering injury. The coaching staff is still hopeful Berry will see the field before the season is over.
