The NFLPA needs to keep its nose out of owner business.

RUSHL

Tomorrow will be a Tuesday Wednesday with our usual Tuesday QB appearing then.

NFLPA Exec Dir DeMaurice Smith has sent a message to the NFL Owners saying that radio star Rush Limbaugh should be banned from being part of the ownership group bidding for the St. Louis Rams. The reason Smith sighted was that Limbaugh is decisive. Not only is that bogus but it is a lie. Smith didn’t have the guts to say what he really though—that Limbaugh is racist.

If pressed, I am sure he could never come up with a single thing that Limbaugh has said that would lead anyone to think he is racist. That is remarkable because Limbaugh is on the air 15 hours a week. In addition every second of that time is monitored by those that want nothing more than to bring him down. Very few people operate everyday under that kind of pressure.

What is worse, most of the quotes that are used to vilify Limbaugh have been fabricated by a far left media that is jealous of his success. The “progressive” (far left) Air America failed and went bankrupt despite a key executive stealing several hundred thousand dollars from the Boys and Girls Club of New York to make payroll in the final throws of death of the network.

I have 3 problems with Smith sending his personal feelings to the NFL owners about who should and should not be allowed to be part of an NFL team.

First, the accusations that Smith was too gutless to make clear about Rush being racist are a lie. Anyone that has listened to even an hour of his show knows that believes that every American has within him or her to be successful. He encourages self reliance, and finding what makes each of us happy and make that our jobs. I have been a regular listener for over 15 years and can say I have never heard a single word that could even be stretched into a racist comment. He has criticized those that try to convince minorities and anyone else that they are victims and can not become successful.

There was the issue on ESPN about McNair. But those that heard the comment realized that in no way was he criticizing the media and not McNair. He said that he felt that the media was hyping McNair because they wanted to highlight a black QB. No one has refuted that statement. Rush has said a number of times that the criticism that the Eagle QB has received was not justified.

Second, no one can question Limbaugh’s love of the game and his desire to help keep the Rams in St. Louis. I am a Browns fan. There is nothing worse than having the team you have followed all your life stolen by another city. It is a shot in gut of any fan that never really heals.

Third and most important, the ownership of a team is not the business of the NFLPA. Smith has done that before by talking about the need to take the discipline out of the hands of the Commissioner. He has no right nor does the union to say who should or should not be part of team ownership. They are unionized employees. Does the line worker at GM have a right to pick the President? Well, now that the Government gave the union a stake in the company, it does but shouldn’t have.

Limbaugh will not be the majority owner. He will be a minority partner. The Dolphins have recently brought in every star and star want to be in southern Florida to be a minority partner of that team. Limbaugh will not be divisive. It is his liberal detractors that are the divisive factor in our government and country. Limbaugh is an outstanding businessman with a marketing instinct that will help the team return to a competitive position within the league.

Frankly, the NFL needs men like Rush Limbaugh if it is going to stay the top game in the country.

That’s what I think. Tell me what you think.
