Ohio State Recruits Complete High School at Big 33

Ohio players traveled to Hershey Pennsylvania to play in the main High School all star game in the summer prior to summer classes starting in college. Chris Fields was one of the players that has committed to Ohio State that was a part of an Ohio team that defeated the best players in Pennsylvania this past Saturday 38-31.

Ohio North South Game Not In The Picture

This was the 52nd Annual Big 33 Classic. In past years there was competition for Ohio State recruits between the Big 33 and Ohio’s North South All Star Game. But last year saw both games played on the same weekend as recruits wanted to get to campus as soon as possible after high school. Having the games conflict led Ohio State recruits to begin selecting the Big 33 routinely. The game has a strong tradition and features many of the best players from Pennsylvania against some of the best from Ohio.

Chris Fields and Melvin Fellows

Wide receiver Chris Fields was on hand but didn’t put up big numbers on the day. He did came away with a good experience against some of the best competition he has ever faced. Coming from Harvey High School and finishing his senior year at 4-6 shows the program he came from isn’t a factory of talent. Melvin Fellows was another recruit that didn’t shine in the game but he is coming off knee surgery and was seen icing the left knee afterwards. He feels the knee will not be a problem once he begins weight training with the Buckeyes this summer.

Austin Boucher

One of the stars of the game was Austin Boucher from Kettering Alter who selected Miami (OH) over a late offer from Ohio State. The quarterback finished as Ohio’s MVP and put Ohio in scoring position on a number of plays throwing and running the ball from a spread formation.

Cleveland Glenville Recruits

Other Ohio State players on hand included Jonathan Newsome from Cleveland Glenville and Marcus hall who is also a Tarblodder. Newsome showed good speed rushing the passer and was able to drop into coverage when needed. Playing the LEO position for the Buckeyes could be in his future. Hall reportedly struggled at the beginning of the Big 33 practice week but feels that he improved greatly over the course of the week leading up to the game. Ohio State would like Hall to add depth at the Offensive Tackle position behind Mike Adams and JB Shugart this coming season.
